Website information

Accessibility statement

Matter Machine Technologies wants this website to work for everyone who visits it, however they browse: with a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or voice control.

What we have done

  • Every page has a clear heading structure and a link to skip straight to the main content.
  • Everything works with a keyboard, and a visible outline shows where you are.
  • The phone menu and the biography pop-ups say whether they are open, and close with the Escape key.
  • Images are described in text, or marked as decorative where they add nothing to the words around them.
  • The animation on the home page is described for screen readers and pauses when it is off screen. If your device is set to reduce motion, it shows a still image and the moving card borders stop.
  • Text and background colours are measured against the WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratios, not judged by eye.
  • Text is real text, not pictures of text, so it can be enlarged, and the layout adjusts to narrow screens.
  • Form fields have visible labels, and any problem is explained in words next to the field, not by colour alone.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The website was checked against these guidelines while it was built. It has not been independently audited.

Where it may fall short

Links to scientific papers, university pages and professional profiles take you to other websites, which have their own accessibility arrangements.
